SISB MUN CCA

Model United Nations (MUN) is one of the CCAs being offered at SISB Sixth Form School. In line with the school's vision of aspiring to be a scholar, a leader and a global citizen, MUN students are charged with the responsibility of carrying out this mandate through researching global issues, drafting resolutions and debating them in an attempt to solve global problems. On this front they also incorporate the mission of the school in which they attempt to make the world a better place.

Between 16th – 20th November 2020, some MUN members participated in the prestigious conference commonly known as THIMUN – Singapore (THE HAGUE INTERNATIONAL MODEL UNITED NATIONS – SINGAPORE).

In the run-up to the conference, SISB students were assigned a country, and they were expected to carry out research on four issues from two different committees based on the policies of this country. Randomly, we were assigned Bulgaria.

The SISB team was placed in the Economic Committee – EC, with two issues to research: Improving regulations for live animal shipments by sea and Relocating vital businesses on national ground (health, agriculture, industry), and in the Youth and Health Committee – YHC, in which they researched the issues of Providing access to healthcare for the disadvantaged and Promoting employment for youth.

It is important to highlight that our delegates in the Economic Committee had their resolution adopted after collaboration and deliberations with other delegates. The resolution of which they were co-submitters was voted and passed during the conference.

To this end, the delegates from SISB got recognition as a participant of this great international conference which was held virtually for the first time in the history of THIMUN. We were quite happy to have been given the opportunity to participate in the conference of such a magnitude.
